Happy Birthday Colter!!!

Can you believe it's been a year?!Colter had such a wonderful birthday surrounded by all of our family. He woke up that day and I swear  he knew the day was about him! He was grinning ear to ear all day and really enjoyed hearing, "Happy Birthday!" His party was a "Little Man Mustache," party and I sewed him the cutest little birthday suit! We had an awesome spread of food and everyone was decked out in either their Griz or Cat wear.  Colter enjoyed opening his presents and even actually tried opening a few! My mom made him the cutest little "smash cake." Yes, smash he did! He wasn't so much into shoveling it into his mouth as he was more interested in squeezing the cake in his hands. You could tell the texture was far more interesting then eating it! When he finally had the cake pretty much mutilated he thought it would be a great idea to throw the whole pile of cake and plate on the floor!! Then came the water works!!! It was all fun until it hit the floor! Oh what a day, what a wonderful wonderful day!

This is an interesting time of year for us. Colter's birthday brought so much joy to our family as we all remember back on Colter's first year of life. It's also reminded us of last year; and the journey we were about to embark on. I remember the happiness of Colter's birth, he was perfect.(Other than those purple fingernails) We were overjoyed to have this beautiful baby boy to complete our family, we had no idea what the next few months had in store for us. On Wednesday it will be exactly a year ago that we received the news that our Colter was born with a very broken heart and our lives from that day forward would forever be changed. Bittersweet isn't it? What a miracle Colter is, and though our family has faced some of life's darkest days I would do it all over again. Not many people can say they've met their hero, but I gave birth to mine. Colter is has no limits to what he can achieve or overcome. I will forever be indebted to God for his grace and proving that miracles do happen, I thank him daily for allowing us another day with our baby boy for I know how quickly life can change.

With that being said this is the time of year to think about all were thankful for. I hope that you all continue to be thankful for God's blessings in all of the months of the year not just November. BUT since it's November I just hope that you all can remember to be thankful for your beautiful families and good health. Hug your children tightly and kiss them goodnight, tell them you love them often and always forgive. Remember that each day we have on this earth is a blessing and a gift so enjoy every moment of it! That includes your partner as well, love them always, forgive them and laugh with them. Please everyone say a prayer of thanks for Colter on the 28th it's his heart birthday, 1 year post surgery!!
