Isn't he SWEET?!

We've had a great couple of weeks here,  Colter is doing so well. That's not to say this whole tube feeding thing hasn't come with some frustrations, but I'll get to that.

At our last appointment we say the Cardiologist and he was again so happy with Colter. He can't believe what a little miracle we have. He was so happy with how good Colter looked that he took a picture of him and sent it to Dr. McQuinn at Children's. I'll be excited to hear what he thought of Colter.

The last couple of weeks we've been working our way up to get to our goal of 29mls per/hr in his stomach, well we reached our goal without a hitch! Well that was until Friday when we noticed that his G-port which is rubber is ripping down the center. Lovely huh? So I called his G-J Dr and of course she was out till Wednesday, so I made his appointment for Wednesday. So Wednesday they'll take his long feeding tube out and replace it with a mickey button. The mickey will be sooooooo nice it's pretty flat to the skin and hopefully this will stop Colt man from yanking on it.  And it's just all around better.

But my main goal is to get him eating more, but to do that I need to put some weight on the boy, get him to a point where I can bollis feed him every 3 hours, then we'll work on a wean program. But that is in the distant future. It's going to be A LOT of work, but Colter deserves to eat like the rest of us. You'd think it'd be easy, like let him get hungry and he'll eat. The problem is that Colter doesn't know what that feeling means, and he doesn't understand how to make it go away. I can't force feed him or put a bottle in his mouth. It's a delicate balance, like everything thus far we have to take baby steps and day by day. So far he likes bananas and sweet potatoes. Actually tonight he was letting me put the bite in his mouth and using his tongue to swallow, rather than spitting it out right away. I'm bound and determined to get this boy eating tho, I'm willing to do whatever it takes to get him there. All I can do is pray about it and put the time and effort into it.

Ashlynn celebrated her 4th birthday last weekend, it was so nice to have a special day just for her. She deserved it, she's been such a trooper through everything. She was so happy, the morning of her party I think she was more excited than on Christmas! Ty took her to the Dr. on Tues and she got her 4 year shots, let me tell ya, the nurses said she was the toughest kid they'd seen all day. She had a total of 3 shots and I guess giggled after each one and said, "bring it on!!" It helped that last week she was watching "Sid the Science Kid," and the episode was about why we need vaccinations. It helped a lot, I highly recommend having your kiddo watch it before shots!

All in all the Cross family is doing good, enjoying our blessings everyday.. Ps. Tyler took the picture of the hummingbird :)
